Rocco Borghese Chandeliers announces the arrival of their new service –  custom mirrors. Bespoke mirrors created to their customers’ exact specifications; these will complement the London high-end lighting designers’ burgeoning wider collection.

The custom-etched mirrors sit so beautifully alongside Rocco Borghese’s hand-blown lighting because they are another luxury artisan interior design product that is much in demand. Whether used in the kitchen, bathroom, living room or bedroom, mirrors can work amazing alchemy on interior design space.

On the launch of their new designer mirrors, Rocco Borghese comments: “It was time to bring some new light to the collection – so to speak. Custom-made mirrors are the perfect accompaniment to our chandeliers and bespoke lighting ranges. Mirrors and lighting go hand-in-hand and can make or break an interior design project. At Rocco Borghese Chandeliers, we are all about making interior design projects – making them sensational”.

Mirrors come in many forms – from free-standing mirrors to wall-mounted decorative mirrors to mirrored walls and mirrored ceilings – and each should be chosen to bring a little bit of magic to a room’s overall look and feel. Thoughtfully placed silvered glass can also create optical illusions where desired, making a space appear bigger or helping to bring the green lushness of the outside in. But the real beauty of a custom mirror is that it can be created using age-old hand-blown glass techniques, a supreme blend of high-lustre glass and mind-blowing contemporary design innovations.

The most innovative of Rocco Borghese Chandeliers’ mirrors includes the ravishing rose vanity designed exclusively for Annabel’s in Mayfair, which features coloured glass for a perfectly pretty pop. While the Art Deco styling of the Milano, with its beautiful bevelling, brings the classic look of classic lines – ideal for contemporary homes and commercial spaces alike.

As mirrors reflect light and contribute to the overall illumination, they fall into a lighting designer’s brief when considering the lighting for any given room. At Rocco Borghese Chandeliers, they are known to design custom mirrors and architectural lighting side-by-side to achieve maximum illumination and ultimate impact for the spaces they are tasked with transforming.

Like lighting, designer mirrors with silvered glass or intricate etchings can make a fantastic focal point for a room. The bigger and bolder the better, for large spaces. But quality and style should never be compromised no matter the square footage. There is also a leaning towards the use of mirrors as artwork. A standard full-length mirror in the wardrobe and basic bathroom vanities aside, mirrors are no longer just functional items. Custom mirrors can be fun and fabulous – two things the Rocco Borghese Chandeliers brand is all about.

On hearing the launch of the new bespoke mirrors, Alicia MacDonald (of the interior design industry press), said:

“ROCCO BORGHESE’S LIGHTING FEATURES ALWAYS REMIND ME OF DALE CHIHULY’S INSTALLATIONS, THEY ARE INEXTRICABLY CAPTIVATING WORKS OF ART THAT ENHANCE ANY SPACE. THESE BESPOKE MIRRORS ARE A PERFECT PROGRESSION FOR A MASTER OF LIGHT AND GLASS DESIGN”

This collection of contemporary artistic chandeliers uses low voltage (12v) miniature G4 LED to minimize energy consumption and costs. These chandelier lights also have a 1000-hour life rating that helps to lower recycling requirements.

For London Design Week, the Rocco Borghese design team created a very special collection of ‘Wish Mirrors’. This collection is called the “Vetrissimo” and will be launched to coincide with the London Lighting Design week.

The complete Energia Collection is currently available online on the Rocco Borghese website or at Rocco Borghese showrooms in London. Brochures of this collection can be downloaded here

The latest custom-made Vetrissimo ‘Wish Mirrors’ collection will be made available during design week. Although currently not displayed on the website they will be added during the launch.

Gino Borghese, Head of Growth for Rocco Borghese, said

“The Energia collection is special because it is beautiful in both its design and its purpose. London Design Week is the ideal platform to showcase the real impact we can make when we are conscious about the products we bring into our homes. The recently announced improvements in nuclear fusion will help to greatly reduce energy prices, but until that time we want to share exciting solutions that allow everyone to enjoy art whilst helping to reduce energy consumption. We are proud that London Design Week considers our glass art design to be a valuable asset to the design world.”

In an exclusive interview, architectural lighting expert Rocco Borghese reveals how the “lightbulb moment” for his trailblazing designs came 31 years ago. The inspiration for his enchanting Energia Cosmica chandelier collection was an epiphany in the form of his late father surrounded by swirling light.

 —

Though Murano’s legendary Rocco Borghese Chandeliers glass foundry has created revolutionary bespoke luxury lighting since 1824, creative lighting designer Rocco Borghese has never revealed his muse – until now.

When it comes to Rocco Borghese’s enchanting Energia Cosmica collection, its name and the delicate ethereal structure of the individual hand-sculpted pieces nod towards the celestial. But the inspiration for these luxury chandelier creations was an epiphany in the form of Rocco’s late father 31 years ago.

With almost 200 years of the Rocco Borghese Chandeliers legacy at a turning point, Rocco’s father reminded him of his true vocation. Rocco was revitalised as the master of innovative awe-inspiring architectural lighting that is plucked from the realms of his wildest imaginings, where fantasy becomes reality. From this light and love, the Energia Cosmica collection was born. Here, Rocco Borghese reveals all about his inspirational visitation and how it shaped the cutting-edge creations of the specialist lighting designer we now know.

Rocco Borghese’s cosmic awakening

“The Energia Cosmica collection came about after the passing of my father in 1990. At first glance, some people will see a lot of scribble – random metal and glass – but it’s so much more than that…

“As he took his last breath, my father, Gino, said he would contact me shortly. That very night, I had a vivid dream. Walking in a meadow, I could see the sun setting on the horizon. Then a shape appeared far away, it got closer with each step I took until I could make out that it was my dad. He was wearing his favourite Sunday relax mode jumper and smiling, completely at peace.

“This huge rhythmic energy was growing behind him. It started quite flat in the distance, then an upsurge of swirling shapes encircled him. The hairs on my neck stood on end, I could see it all in 3D – starting in monochrome and progressing to warm shades, until it surrounded him completely. His smiling form faded and merged with this beautiful energy. He then vanished into silver swirls and floated skyward with a sharp flash of light.

“Though no words were spoken I could understand everything he told me telepathically. It was all about affirming his love and the bigger questions – and, yes, there’s something beautiful and amazing on the other side!

“Unsurprisingly moved, I woke in tears. But the vision left me calm and reflective. I realised there was a vividness of truth to this message of peace and love, I had experienced contact with the essence of my dad’s soul.

“My design of Energia Cosmica evolved from this dream, a surrealistic event that conveyed an understanding that, ‘just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist’. I began to sketch and doodle a design and then decided to recreate its feeling in glass”.

Rocco Borghese Voted “Best Architectural Lighting Design” in London

The contribution by Rocco Borghese Chandeliers to Martin Brudnizki’s redesign of Annabel’s was recently voted “Best Architectural Lighting Design” in a poll*, by a panel of industry professionals. The lighting installation innovation was also listed one of 10 Unforgettably Mesmerising Spaces by contemporary interior design and lifestyle almanac Livingetc.

Following their part in the lavish and immaculately lit refurb of private members’ club Annabel’s in Mayfair, London, Rocco Borghese Chandeliers has received praise from some of the keenest interior design influencers. Not only have the people spoken but the industry press has named the perky powder room project one of its top picks.

Berkeley Square’s Annabel’s, one of the world’s most elegant clubs, benefited from a £55 million redesign by internationally acclaimed interior architect and designer Martin Brudnizki. A project for which Rocco Borghese Chandeliers was honoured to consult and design.

Rocco Borghese Chandeliers helped to create the splendour of Annabel’s now iconic women’s powder room with a bespoke lighting design. A challenge but no chore, the certified lighting designer insists, this high-end lighting project involved creating a fairy-tale-like wall of hand-blown glass roses to frame and illuminate the vanity. Shades of pink – from blush to cerise – were woven with layers of Verde Leaf greens to give ultimate charm with a little cheek. The architectural art installation is brought to life with hidden halo lighting, one of this season’s hottest luxury decorative lighting trends.

London nightclub Annabel’s, “a place to entertain and be entertained”, strives for an unforgettable atmosphere. This is supported by a solid foundation of expert interior design that marries comfort with glamour – a dream project Brudnizki, who has also worked with clients such as Four Seasons and the Royal Academy of Arts.

The Martin Brudnizki Design Studio claims that at the heart of their work lies: “a profound commitment to the individual and their experience of an interior. Through the careful study of a project’s context and a client’s lifestyle, a dedication to functionality and a love of layering different materials, textures and styles, the Studio hand-crafts environments that enable our clients to develop personal and long-lasting relationships with their interior spaces”. And this attention to detail can be seen in spades at Annabel’s.

Comments from Martin & Rocco

Annabels Vanity Room lighting designOn creating the iconic powder room Brudnizki comments: “This could be one of my favourite rooms in the entire membership, regardless of not being allowed in it. I really like the tented ceiling, layers of materiality and its cosy, snug vibe. Plus, everybody is aware the most effective gossip occurs right here!

UK architectural lighting specialist Rocco Borghese comments on his contribution to the saucy yet super space: “It was a highly enjoyable challenge to create a magnificent wall of delicate roses. A palette of pinks and Verde Leaf greens combine and are lit with hidden halo lighting for a soft glow. I am proud to have been the main lighting consultant and designer for the development of this project. The powder room, a real picture in pink, looks sensational – as do the rest of Annabel’s revamped rooms.”

New Large Chandelier “Sea Flowers” is Success https://roccoborghese.com/press/new-large-chandelier-sea-flowers-is-success/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=new-large-chandelier-sea-flowers-is-success Tue, 09 Feb 2021 09:32:56 +0000 https://roccoborghese.com/?p=5886

Sea Flowers Collection of Custom Hand-Blown Chandeliers

The latest custom-made large chandelier from luxury lighting designer Rocco Borghese is a breath of fresh air. Sea Flowers not only offers a shimmer akin to summer sunlight bouncing off the water but also highlights of blue, the depth of which can only be compared to a swathe of sea holly.

Here, the age-old technique of hand-blown glass has been elevated to art form status and this is the latest in a long line of inspiring works created by the high-end designer. Now, more than ever, lighting up our lives is so important and Rocco Borghese Chandeliers is providing a little light relief!

Hand-blown glass pieces, such as the large luxury chandeliers that can be found in the wider Rocco Borghese collection, are revelling in a renaissance. What makes them shine so brightly in the 2021 interior design spotlight is the star combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovative ideas for a contemporary market.

Artistic Chandeliers

Designed to work with the customer’s exact interior design requirements, Sea Flowers is a large crystal chandelier crafted in hand-sculpted and textured clear Borghese design glass (80%). But the delicate transparent blue glass detail throughout (20%) really makes it sing. This is all finished with chrome plating for ultimate sophistication.

Whether in a grand townhouse or a modest country pad, finding the right room and position of large chandeliers is key – as is finding a design that’s spot-on! Double-height rooms are usually best to take a statement light fitting such as extra-large chandeliers for high ceilings. Spanning 90cm x 640cm and creating a wow factor, this design would be the ideal large chandelier for a staircase or as a centrepiece for a living room. With the inner lighting designed to shine 360 degrees, this large contemporary chandelier is a true work of art that deserves to be seen from all angles.

When it comes to luminosity, the lighting is dimmable (GU10 LED) with each brightness adding its own dramatic effect. As well as adding a touch of glamour to a contemporary château or high-end hotel, a custom-made large chandelier such as Sea Flowers is sure to light up those areas that traditionally lacklustre while extending their sense of scale.

Constructed with the finest quality blend of Venetian soda glass and crystal mix, the lustre of Rocco Borghese’s large crystal chandeliers is superior. Not only that but the glass will not tarnish or yellow with age, unlike standard offerings. Check out Sea Flowers in all its glory here

Talking about the continuation of the Borghese Glass Foundry legacy, which has been creating large luxury chandeliers for churches since 1824, Rocco Borghese comments: “To preserve the uniqueness and artistic value of the chandeliers and luxury lighting, I do not use ready-made or off-the-shelf components, all parts are designed specifically for you”.

On this new addition to the growing collection, Borghese adds: “With Sea Glass, as with everything I design, I place great importance on visual appeal. I take exceptional care to ensure the correct flow of light, without hot spots, by employing up to five times more lamps than many of my competitors.

This piece is a real success as it comes at a time when people could really do with some extra light, and a bit of luxury, in their lives. With more people spending time at home, they want their private palaces to radiate with luxe”.
